I adore Christmas music, and listen to it all year round. Frank Sinatra's version of anything is my favorite, as well as Carrie Underwood's version of Hark the Herald Angels Sing.

Least favorites: I have a passionate, seething hatred for I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus (if they think their kid is asleep in bed, why is the dad dressed up? Creepy), Toyland, and The Christmas Shoes. If those three songs were banned from the universe, it would be just fine.
What is your favorite holiday carol or song?

This is what bothers me about this song. Some people I know have cheating-related buttons that are poked by it, but that's not why I'm bothered. . . it's because I don't see the logic in dressing up as Santa Claus when the kids are in bed. Also, would you really be tempted to kiss your husband through a synthetic beard?? To say nothing of the whole suit and setting in general, which are problems in themselves--really, you want a mouthful of grey acrylic fibers; you can't wait until he pulls his beard down, revealing him as not-Santa?? I worry that the mom is some kind of nymphomaniac, and other tunes by this child include, "Mommy And Daddy Were Just Rolling Around In My Easter Candy And Now I Don't Really Want It," and, "Mommy Said To Stay In The Sandbox While She Goes Into The Trees With The Nice Man."

I just spit Snapple all over the computer screen from laughing so hard! Awesome!!

So glad I'm not the only one bothered by that whole dynamic. Why do people write songs like this?! There are radio stations I can't even listen to during the holidays because I don't want to hear that damn Christmas Shoes song. It's like a soundtrack for holiday suicide.

LOL--thank you, thank you; I'm here to entertain. XD

I recently (this morning) discovered that ALL THESE SONGS WERE RELEASED IN THE 50'S, so that kind of answers that question for me. I feel like people often didn't really think things through in 50's music. ^_^

You may hate me for this, but I don't think I've ever heard Christmas Shoes without seeking it out. I initially heard about it on a fundamentalist Christian message board where I lurked (the drama was SUCCULENT), and I just had to hear this song. I think the stations I listen to know that everyone hates it! I'm baffled when people report of stations that seem to believe otherwise. . . I mean, subject matter aside, it's not even musically pleasant. . . just, why???
